MOLLIE MIA MURPHY
Mollie Mia Murphy is a multi disciplinary artist based in Dublin, mainly working
with video and installation. She has been deeply affected by the worries of
climate destruction. Growing up with news headlines including phrases such as
‘Climate Crisis’, ‘Wild Fires’, ‘Deforestation’ and more has inspired Murphy to
take action through her work. Her work explores connections between the
environment and the economy in Ireland. Data has become an invisible and
unrecognised impact on our earth but is just as dangerous as physical
information. The use of technology in her art questions her environmental
footprint she creates while making these pieces. Mollie Mia’s work is research-
based and takes time to compile narrative. Focusing on finding connections
between religion, language and landscape, she evokes conversation about the
Irish language and traditional Irish custom’s symbiotic relationship with the environment.
